Polymorphous light eruption is classified as an immune-mediated photodermatosis. It the most common cause of photosensitivity in children between 6 and 14 years old. characterised by pruritic or tingling erythematous papular plaque lesions sunlight-exposed skin which occur spring early summer. The first signs polymorphous typically appear several hours to days after exposure intense sunlight take form irritable rash persisting for a few days, subsiding within week two with minimal no scarring. Its recurrences may have detrimental impact on quality life. Due significant heterogeneity clinical manifestations eruption, disorder relatively challenging diagnose. differential diagnoses include associated lupus erythematosus, solar urticaria, actinic prurigo, erythema multiforme, photocontact allergic dermatitis, genetic dermatoses. UVA UVB phototesting followed histological examination important diagnostic tool objectify light-related symptoms. Once diagnosis established, patient should be monitored educated prevention. management based prevention such sun protection sunscreens. first-line treatment includes glucocorticoids antihistamines.
